Who is Dave the leak guy

Dave Richardson aka (Dave the Leak Guy) grew up in a little hamlet in up state New York. There is something proud and a bit naive in growing up in the country. Everybody knew your parents and where you lived, your family name marked you for the better or worse! I was lucky in that respect. My fathers family was well respected. The family business was drilling water wells, so water was a common topic. And finding water wasn’t so much a science but an acquired skill set. Jump 15 +- yrs. Into the future my father didn’t follow in my grandfathers footsteps but decided to be and architect and a general contractor. During that time I learned about water infiltration, water leaks in basements, around windows and roof leaks. I learned all about ground water and its effect on concrete. I learned about hydrology and water movement through materials. Jump another 15 yrs.+- and it was 1989 I opened the first home inspection business in Greene County NY. A computer in every home seamed like science fiction, and a smart phone was something out of Star Trek. There were few if any standard operating procedures and no directions to follow. These were all things I had to develop from scratch. Then in a blink of an eye it was 2006, the recession hit hard, real estate brokers were going out of business left and right and therefore my referrals for inspections were dwindling. The handwriting was on the wall! I had to reinvent myself again. Moving to Clearwater on the money I saved there were no jobs and I saw more money going out of my account than going in. I could see a finite end to this forced retirement. Reading the classifieds every night I found a small two line ad Leak Detector Wanted. Just like that it was 2008 I was in “on the job” training using ultra sonic equipment to find water leaks underground and under slabs. It seems like my whole life has focused around water. Now, one of the best Leak Locators in southwest Florida I find water leaks others can’t, or don’t know how to. 10,000 + leak detection’s in my resume and still adding. I take my profession seriously as you would expect, but sometimes there are no easy answers. Many times the leak is somewhere you just can’t get to. Under your slab under the kitchen cabinets, under the your water heater in your garage, or underground under that big oak tree on your lawn! I’ve seen all of those and more! I have the experience to give you options. There is always more than one way to see the issue. That being said I am NOT a plumber therefore I don’t see things as some plumbers do.
